Improve Skin Treatment Results With Lightwave LED Therapy

If you’re going to invest time, money and energy in skin rejuvenation treatments like microdermabrasion, chemical peels and Botox or fillers, why not give yourself every opportunity to ensure their success?  LIGHTWAVE LED Therapy can help you do just that through a unique combination of Blue Light Therapy, Red Light Therapy and Infrared Light Therapy.

As effective as it is for exfoliating the top layer of the skin, these exfoliations can cause painful, embarrassing swelling and redness. Yet this mild injury caused by the roughened surface of the wand is the key to the process, as this is what leads to the cellular turnover your skin needs. Removing the top layer of the skin not only enables moisturizing creams and lotions to penetrate deeper, but it also helps remove minor visible imperfections on the surface of the skin.

Fortunately, you can experience the benefits of the microdermabrasion or dermafiling process without all the unwanted side effects.

When used before and after a mechanical exfoliation treatment, LIGHTWAVE LED Therapy helps reduce swelling and redness, as well as the dehydration of the skin normally associated with these exfoliations. As though that weren’t incentive enough to incorporate this natural skin therapy into your exfoliation treatment, LIGHTWAVE also aids in the formation of healthy new cells so that skin looks and feels smoother.

Chemical Peels

Another effective way of exfoliating the outer layer of the skin is through chemical peels, especially beneficial to those with facial blemishes, wrinkles and uneven skin tone. But as with microdermabrasion or dermafiling, chemical peels can cause swelling and redness – negative side effects compounded by the multiple chemical peels that are typically recommended as part of this treatment regimen.

Again, LIGHTWAVE LED Therapy can help. Before a chemical peel, LIGHTWAVE boosts cellular energy. Afterward it calms inflamed tissue, reduces redness and stimulates a reparative cellular response to speed up the skin’s natural renewal process.

Botox and Fillers

When used to treat facial creases and wrinkles, Botox and fillers can cause bruising and swelling, as well as mild tenderness at the site of injection. Obviously, these are unwanted side effects best minimized as much as possible, and LIGHTWAVE LED Therapy can help.

Using LIGHTWAVE before and after Botox or filler treatments reduces the bruising, swelling and tenderness associated with these injections. Yet LIGHTWAVE does much more than simply mitigate side effects. In fact, when used over a period of time it can actually 1) prolong the benefits of Botox and fillers, 2) reduce the number of necessary injections, 3) create fuller, healthier looking skin.

Advantages To Lightwave Therapy For
Non-invasive Skin Rejuvenation

1) It treats multiple issues.

In much the same way that photosynthesis works with plants, LIGHTWAVE Therapy uses light energy to stimulate the body’s regenerative metabolism at the cellular level. From the nourishment of cells, to the acceleration of collagen and elastin, LIGHTWAVE does the body good in more ways than one.

This hands-free technology has several options to treat a wide range of skin care and other related issues, which can target on a specific area of improvement, including:

  • Facial rejuvenation
  • Wrinkles
  • Cellulite
  • Scars
  • Stretch marks
  • Flaccid skin
  • Blemishes/Acne
  • And more

The LIGHTWAVE system also has the ability to customize programs for individual client concerns. So whether you have a specific skin care condition that needs attention, or you simply want to protect your skin from aging and harsh environmental factors, LIGHTWAVE Therapy can help.

2) It treats the problem, not the symptom.

“The LIGHTWAVE LED Systems are unique because they don’t just treat symptoms,” says Dr. Paul Cenac, an Aesthetic Laser Consultant of AGAPE Medi-Spa and Laser Centers. “They actually change the composition, quality and appearance of the skin due to extensive non-ablative cellular stimulation of multiple cell lines that contribute to the overall health and vitality of the skin.”

3) There are no negative consequences.

Unlike other aesthetic skin rejuvenation treatments, LIGHTWAVE Therapy comes with zero negative consequences:

  • No pain
  • No side effects
  • No thermal damage
  • No discomfort
  • No discoloration
  • No down time
  • No surgery
  • No scarring

Plus, most LIGHTWAVE Therapy clients describe this pain-free experience as a soothing, relaxing one.

4) It’s affordable.

For optimal effectiveness, LIGHTWAVE Therapy is typically recommended two-three times a week for a 4- to 6-week period. Then to maintain desired results, treatments are generally recommended once a month thereafter. Fortunately, the cost of each treatment is dramatically lower than that of other aesthetic skin options. So despite its frequency, LIGHTWAVE Therapy is a painless, affordable one.

Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT)

Maricela Fortuna

Collagen Induction Therapy is also known as CIT or Micro-Needling.

Why should you consider Micro-Needling???

....because these super-tiny micro channels that are invisible to the naked eye do two important things:

1. Stimulate the body to produce new collagen and elastin, (the skin's connective tissue and the structural matrix responsible for smooth texture and elasticity).

2. Allow for active ingredients to penetrate to the dermis (lower layers) where they can immediately get to work for our benefit.

First, just to clear any confusion when you hear the word "needling", here's what the technique is NOT:
a. Micro-Needling is NOT an injection.
b. Micro-Needling is NOT a piercing.
c.  Micro-Needling is NOT a DIY procedure.

Micro-Needling can also be used as an easy complexion pick-me-up. Combined with antioxidants and hyaluronic acid, Micro-Needling can deliver instant plumping, making it a great treatment to do a few days before a big event. Please note that it's not uncommon that after the first few treatments at least, your skin will be slightly red and may feel sunburnt, which is normal so please let us know your social/work schedule prior to your treatment so we can guide you with your post home care instructions for BEST RESULTS!

The last point is an important one. Whether administered by a physician or licensed Esthetician, clinical Micro-Needling belongs ONLY in the hands of a skilled professional who is trained in the technique.  Call today to learn more 214-284-5562.

Photo Light Therapy Facial

Maricela Fortuna

The Benefits of Photo Light Therapy: It stimulates your collagen production and improves your blood flow in the capillary system.  Other benefits of PLT is the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles, enlarged pores, dilated capillaries, rosacea, sun damage, age spots, acne & acne scars.  PLT is also a great treatment for firming and toning the skin.  There are seven LED lights that serve different purposes.

Red Light: Absorbed in all skin layer, it stimulates 5 times the increase in collagen production, stimulating cells and cell growth. Increased circulation results in more oxygen and nutrients are carried to the skin. Revitalizes tired skin.

Blue Light:  Penetrates into the superficial dermis and kills bacteria to treat acne, rosacea or skin irritations.  The Blue Light frequency can get to the core of what causes acne eruptions and eventually kill the acne bacteria.  It also eases skin inflammation and improves the skin's anti-allergy abilities. Helps calm and regulate the sebaceous glands.

Benefits of an Oxygen Facial

Maricela Fortuna

Oxygen treatments have emerged in the last few years as the newly recognized skin care essential. From oxygen creams to oxygen spray treatments and oxygen inhalation, most spas and salons across the country have something on their menu oxygen related to offer their client. If you are not a frequent spa goer, then you have perhaps heard of oxygen facials from the biggest celebrity in the world, Madonna. During her last world tour, she touted the benefits of having frequent oxygen treatments in nearly every interview she gave, even going so far as to travel with her own esthetician so she could partake of an oxygen facial daily. But aside from the celebrity endorsement, what are the esthetic benefits of oxygen?

Oxygen has incredible regenerative powers. For decades, doctors have not only recognized this fact but used it in the treatment of burns, gangrene and wounds that simply would not heal otherwise. In an oxygen rich environment, bacteria, viruses, and fungal infections simply do not survive. Moreover, high concentrations of oxygen trigger the body's own healing functions. If you are severely burned or cut, the skin will rapidly heal in such a favorable environment. It is these two very important functions of oxygen that inspired skin care experts to incorporate oxygen into esthetic treatments around the world.

Did you know that in pre-historic earth, the earth's atmosphere contained oxygen levels of up to 35%? Today, thanks to the Industrial Revolution and deforestation, that number has gone down to 21%. In some major cities, that number is even worse- as low as 17%! The United States own EPA estimates that the US emits 137 million tons of pollution EACH YEAR! What does that mean for our bodies? Our skin, the protective barrier between us and the environment, gets hit with that pollution every day. We are oxygen starved from our skin to our lungs. Damage will occur, and that damage will accumulate over time resulting in very stressed, pre-mature aged skin. As an esthetician, I have seen skin that is highly sensitized, breaking out in a rash when they use products with any chemical ingredients of any kind. Wrinkles, loss of elasticity, and excessive sun damage are also the result of the assault our skin is under.

Keeping all of these facts under consideration, it only makes rational sense that incorporating pure oxygen as a treatment into our routine would have real benefit. We need to replenish the oxygen the environment is lacking. We need it to repair damage inflicted on our bodies. And not once a year, but a minimum of once every month. Oxygen treatments in facials and body treatments help combat all sorts of enemies to the skin, from pollution and stress to the lack of oxygen in the atmosphere. The procedure involves spraying hyperbaric oxygen, 98% pure to be exact, that is infused with a serum that contains essential nutrients and antioxidants. The oxygen and serum work in conjunction to reach and repair the skin at a cellular level, achieving optimum results. The oxygen and serum work together to eliminate free radicals that cause premature aging, as well as promote the production of collagen and elastin. Benefits abound: firmer and smoother skin, also erases fine lines and wrinkles and enhances elasticity. Additionally, the benefits are cumulative as the production of collagen and elastin repair the skin and restore the complexion to a more youthful and beautiful you.

The results of a properly done oxygen facial are nothing less than startling as can be attested by the many celebrities that endorse them and its one of the safest and most efficient ways I know of how to continue to look your best.

  • Creates healthier, more radiant appearance
  • Great anti-aging skincare treatment without the chemicals

Dermaplaning is an exfoliation treatment that can be added on to any facial treatment. It's a good choice for anyone who has fine facial hair, extremely sensitive skin, redness or rosacea.  This treatment is done by an experienced Esthetician who uses a tool to gently exfoliate the outer layer of dead skin cells and removes fine facial hair commonly known as "peach fuzz" along the way.  However, this is an exfoliation service and noticeable improvement is immediate, as smoother texture and fresh skin appearance brighten your day.  It leaves your face smooth, supple, and rejuvenated.  Dermaplaning will not cause any excess hair growth as the actual hair follicle is not affected.  This procedure does not at all effect the hair cycle, which is regulated by cells deep within each hair follicle.

Are razor bumps a part of your life?

Maricela Fortuna

Do you or does the man in your life suffer from Pseudofolliculitis Barbae? PFB more commonly known as razor bumps, which is a condition that occurs from shaving, waxing and irritation causing ingrown hairs to grow back into the skin leading to blockage, inflammation and eventually infection. An ingrown hair can produce a red, raised bump that looks much like a pimple. At times, there may be pus inside the bump. It also causes swelling, discomfort, and inflammation in the area,  The condition occurs most frequently where people shave or wax to rid of unwanted hair, such as the beard area, legs, underarms and bikini line. Although not a serious skin condition, it is a nuisance and can often times affect one's self confidence. In most cases, the hairs go away on their own as the hair eventually grows out of the skin.
Salicylic and Acetylsalicylic Acids eat up the dead skin cells causing the blockage while also helping to reduce redness, inflammation, swelling and infection. RA for Men's Rezone is a true "treatment toner" for home care that works to minimize razor bumps/ingrown hairs while is also very hydrating and healing.
Rezone has added antibacterials, anti-inflammatories, and antioxidants from Tea Tree Oil, Totarol, Rooibos Extract, Montmorillonite and Rice Ferment (Sake) making this a perfect addition to a healthy home maintenance skin care routine.

Hyaluronic Acid! The "SMART" nutrient!

Maricela Fortuna

Hyaluronic Acid! The “SMART” nutrient!

Hyaluronic Acid is naturally found in the skin and present in every tissue in our body. As a component of the extra cellular matrix… Hyaluronic Acid is considered a humectant, because it attracts water to the skin and is responsible for maintaining the water balance in the skin’s tissue. In addition, it acts as a barrier to protect our body against pathogens. Hyaluronic Acid helps remove toxins and waste from all cells including those that do not have a direct blood supply, such as cartilage. While holding moisture in, it actually adjusts moisture absorption rate based on the humidity in our environment. If ALL that wasn’t enough… it also aids in protecting the skin from UVB rays and the reactive oxygen species they generate... Which can lead to hyper-pigmentation! This is one “SMART” nutrient!

Some of the products that contain Hyaluronic Acid are Rhonda Allison's Hyaluronic Serum and Ultra Hydration Cream. Cucumber Spritz contains Hyaluronic Acid and increases hydration fast, while holding moisture in!

Zinc Oxide provides a physical barrier from UVA and UVB

Maricela Fortuna

Zinc is an amazing mineral for our bodies, both internally and externally.

Taking zinc internally assists with the proper division of our cells, cell growth, wound healing and the proper functioning of our immune system. It also sharpens our tasting and smelling abilities while promoting healthy skin, hair and nails. Zinc can lessen the length of a cold… it’s not completely clear how zinc helps but it may deactivate the cold virus in the mouth and throat, stop the virus from replicating and halt it from adhering to nasal membranes. It’s helpful to take a zinc supplement when the first symptoms of a cold begin.

Zinc oxide is usually the form of zinc we use topically in skincare formulations. It’s healing, protects and soothes the skin with its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits. Zinc oxide provides a physical barrier from the sun providing both UVA and UVB protection and has the FDA’s approval for use in sunscreens. It does a great job refracting (or bouncing back) the sun’s rays away from our skin rather than many sunscreen ingredients that can allow the sun’s rays to penetrate the skin. You’ll find this impressive ingredient in our Daytime Defense, Ezinc and Sheer Tint Finisher.

Tis’ the season (SUMMER) to use zinc oxide whole heartedly on yourself and keep zinc supplements close by because summer colds can always sneak up on us! However, SPF is an all-year-round "must have" for your skin.

Nature's Energizer...the Spark that lights the Fire!

Maricela Fortuna

Skin needs are different throughout the hot summer months. Whether it be rosacea, acne, hyperpigmentation, sensitive, traumatized, and post sun exposure skin. Physical sunscreens are a given, but reducing thermal heat is a must. Rhonda Allison’s Sea Gems protects the skin from over heating through its unique thermal heat-reducing ingredient Thermus Thermophilus Ferment. While also stimulating the mitochondria and assisting in the production of ATP, providing antioxidants to skin tissue, resulting in a healthier more vibrant skin.

ATP is a common abbreviation for Adenosine Triphosphate and is considered to be a coenzyme. ATP can be found in the folds of the mitochondrion (the battery of the cell), of all cells and is often referred to as “nature’s energizer” or the spark that lights the fire. It triggers cellular metabolism and without its presence, cells have no way to repair, reproduce, or function. The more folds (cristae) the mitochondrion membrane has, the more ATP it can produce.

When it comes to fibroblasts (skin cells that produce collagen), ATP is absolutely necessary in order for fibroblasts to produce. ATP also plays a role in the deterioration and replacing of damaged skin, whose presence often is the reason for signs of aging. Keep your skin calm, cool, and collect the benefits of Rhonda Allison's Sea Gems.

How is Glycation a key component in aging skin?

Maricela Fortuna

Glycation causes significant damage to your skin’s structure through chemical reactions between sugars and proteins that, over time, cause proteins to cross-link therefore collagen stiffening takes place. Rigid collagen fibers, loss of skin elasticity, cross hatch wrinkles, deep lines, sagging and pigmentation of the skin are all visible effects of Glycation. Glycation is a Maillard Reaction, a non-enzymatic browning process that reduces sugars and amino groups of amino acids and proteins. It is the process that occurs in most foods when cooked. Think of a loaf of bread that has been baked to a golden-brown, crispy crust. That is what’s taking place on the surface of our skin during Glycation, it is being cooked and heated to a stiff and crispy surface. Glycation intensifies the negative effects of oxidation. UVA and UVB, HEV (High Energy Visible Light) and IR (Infrared Rays) are heat sources for the process of Glycation. With revolutionary ingredients, powerful antioxidants and advanced science, AGE Less pushes the forefront of cutting edge science, helping the skin to age less. Great for all skin types, AGE Less minimizes redness and sensitivity, provides holistic antioxidant support directly to the cell, renews firmness and skin elasticity, diminishes inflammation, lessens signs of skin fatigue and awakens skin for a luminous, radiant glow.
